Lamaze International's Jeanne Mendelson, Chief Operating Officer, and six Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educators will be headed to Tampa, Florida at the end of this month to exhibit at the Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) 2018 Annual Convention.
Please join me in wishing Penny Simkin a happy birthday and a huge thank you for her contributions to the birth world for the past 50 years.
Just like when climbing a mountain, food and fluid are the fuels that keep your muscles working and allow you to keep going in labor. Since hospitals generally discourage eating in labor (or outright won’t allow it), this is a discussion that I have with my childbirth class families.
Lamaze was one of the MfM sponsors and it was great to see our organization's name up there on the huge center stage. I was proud of the role that my certifying body has taken in standing with other leaders in maternal-infant health to improve outcomes for families and supporting this event.
May is International Doula Month. A doula is a professional who provides emotional, physical and informational support to families during the childbearing year.
